RAREST OF THE RARE
AMAG first aid spare parts box
Here you see something really rare! A 1959 Volkswagen first aid kit with a selection of wear and tear parts. Boxes like this one here were made by the Swiss VW importeur AMAG for their VW dealers. Not many dealers followed up on this offer and purchased a box like this. Most of them had everything they needed in their well stocked parts rooms. The idea was that the mechanic could simply take the box, put it into the service beetle and use it to go fix the broken beetle on site. This box came from a VW dealer in Großhöchstetten in Switzerland and it´s absolutely untouched. It contains perfectly preserverd NOS split window and oval beetle parts each with its designated location inside the box. Electrical items like new brushes for the generator, an indicator switch, a flat top distributor cap and even semaphore indicators are part of the box. Hand brake cables for splits and ovals, fan belts, brake parts, carburetor parts, washers and seals of all kinds. But also other things like windshield wiper blades and much more. on the inside of the lid of the box there´s the complete parts list, easy for the mechanic to finf the part numbers and their 1959 prices in Swiss Francs an 1960 these boxes came with a separate price list showing the inflated prices.
