Perohaus cigar ashtray
In the beginning of the Beetle era the smokers didn't even get an ashtray, it appeared only on cars built after the 3rd of June of 1950. Volkswagen’s designers added a tiny ashtray on the dashboard of the Export Split Window Beetles. This pull out cylindrical ashtray was hardly adequate for heavy smoking Beetle owners. The company Perohaus saw a hole in the market and developed a larger ashtray that simply slides into the original small ashtray hole. Problem for lovers of big Cuban cigars solves and with a turn of the knob on the side they could empty their fresh ashes into the storage compartment below and prevent them from flying around with the window open.
